As Basketball Season Looms, Nike Celebrates The Game With The Dunk Low For Kids

Given the Nike Dunk has carved out a massive lane in skateboarding and lifestyle wear, it’s easy to forget about its basketball origins. The advent of techy options like the Nike Ja 2 or Sabrina 2 only further obfuscates that point, but trust and believe, Beaverton isn’t forgetting the Dunk’s roots any time soon. The latest GS edition throws back to its 1980s beginnings with a “Deep Jungle” colorway attached.

Solely from first impressions, this Dunk Low “Deep Jungle” may strike as a relatively standard release; the “Be True To Your School” color-blocking and similarities to the once-coveted Michigan State Dunks makes that an easy conclusion to arrive at. However, gilded contrast stitching and embroidery do a lot of heavy lifting in marking this as a special edition drop, culminating with the Ivy-esque “Nike Basketball” emblem at the heel counter.

Further, the golden stitch arrives next to a splotchy, camo-like pattern that overtakes the Swoosh, an aged touch that aligns well with the “Pale Ivory” off-white foundation throughout. All told, this pair of Dunk Lows does an admirable job of threading the needle between overtly eye-catching and simplistic, a match for everyday school outfits and as a commemorative nod to any little hoopers in your life.
