Signature Nike Basketball shoes will always reach mainstream sneakerhead consciousness, but real hoopers know that the brand’s top-tier performance models fall under the “Greater Than” series. First introduced in 2021, the line has expanded rapidly by way of all-new models and true performance upgrades to existing silhouettes. The GT Hustle 3 is one of the latest new arrivals hitting shelves in 2024, now continuing its rollout in a new colorway dubbed “Fundamentals” on October 1st.
Some performance highlights; the GT Hustle 3 features visible Zoom Air capsules near the forefoot and a sewn-in Zoom Air strobel for maximum energy storage. The Nike Sport Research Lab also concluded that athletes use less oxygen when playing in the GT Hustle 3 compared to the GT Hustle 2, justifying a true data-backed upgrade. Hoopers have applauded the shoe for its cushioning, comfort, breathability, although some prefer the more low-to-the-ground height of its predecessor. In any case, given the shoe’s $180 price tag, you’ll probably want to test out a pair in-store before cutting a check.
As far as this colorway goes, Nike brings split white and “Royal Pulse” treatments to the shoe’s Flyknit base, paving a transition into a gradient midsole. The lateral Swoosh comes with “Metallic Gold” piping for a slight premium feel, while the forefoot Zoom Air units get illuminated with “Volt” to match the tongue branding.
