Nike And MoMA Announce Partnership With Exclusive Product Launches

Nike and MoMA are building on their past link-ups by forging ahead a range of new collab products. Alongside a formal announcement, the Swoosh & the art institution released a collection of Nike Elite Socks, bearing “Just Do It” stitching and eccentric palettes inspired by current artwork on display in NYC. You can grab pairs of the MoMA Nike Socks here.

While the relationship between MoMA and Nike began with the museum showcasing the FuelBand and later a slew of Swoosh product in the “Is Fashion Modern” exhibition, it unquestionably grew in status in 2018. The late great Virgil Abloh launched a collaboration with the MoMA Design Store for his black & silver Air Force 1, a shoe whose weighty history and limited status has led to them becoming a modern “grail.” More recently, the art institution was heavily involved in the release of the Nina Chanel Abney Jordan 3, hosting the initial raffle and subsequent apparel drops.

This move strengthens and formalized what was already a rather sturdy bond. In initial press from either sides, the two partners each promised additional co-branded product down the line, with footwear likely joining the mix in the future. As mentioned towards the top, you can grab their first release, the Nike Elite Socks, here.
