Earlier this year, Jordan Brand brought back the Air Jordan 17 Low “Lightning” for the first time since its original debut in 2003. Following suit is yet another original colorway — the “UNC” inspired by Michael Jordan’s Tar Heels legacy. The shoes are set to release on August 28th, 2024 for $300 at select Jordan retailers. Below is the list of retailers that carried the “Lightning” pair earlier this year; the list will be updated regularly until the scheduled release date.

The Air Jordan 17 first released to the public during the short-lived Washington Wizards era of Michael Jordan’s career. The 17 Low combined MJ’s off-the-court passions including golf (seen on the traction inspired by a golf course) and jazz music. The hardshell briefcase is inspired by the cases for brass instruments used by jazz musicians. There are also elements of Jordan’s growth as a businessman and overall “grown” aesthetic.
While the Air Jordan 17 Low in 2003 did not come with a briefcase, Jordan Brand has chosen to include this premium packaging for the 2024 release, which helps to justify the $300 MSRP. Even with that high price-tag, the Lightning 17s are currently selling for double the MSRP on the secondary market; the same is expected for the UNC 17 Lows.
Below is the best look yet at the Air Jordan 17 Low “UNC” shared by @gc911; again, the release date is August 28th and will be available only at select Jordan retailers. See our Jordan Release Dates page for the latest updates on this month’s Jordan drops.
