First Look At The Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare” Releasing For Halloween

Morant's second signature comes into clearer view via this special edition.

First Look At The Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare” Releasing For Halloween

With the 2024-25 NBA season nearing ever closer, we’re set to receive a heavy dose of new signature shoes in the waning days of the offseason, from the LeBron 22 to the Giannis Freak 6. One of the longest awaited in that group is the Nike Ja 2, adding to a “Stargazer” colorway and a Murray State PE with this Halloween-ready “Nightmare” do-up.

The promise in this shoe’s title is delivered on abundantly, beginning with the overwhelmingly red palette from heel to toe, only interrupted by accent of gold & black on the edges. In the finer details, that eerie atmosphere is only enhanced; ghastly hands reach up the plush swatch on the heel and cat eyes peek out from its tab. Closing out the creepy particulars, a chrome dubrae spells out Morant’s name atop an angular, almost vampiric set of teeth.

Given the radial print that marked the quarter of the initial Ja 2, the embossed claw mark pattern utilized here showcases how Beaverton creatives are likely to get experimental with that portion of the shoe. Similarly, it’s a luxe combination of materials on tap this time; velvet is pasted onto the tongue and overlays, met by synthetic mesh on the base layer. Finally, each successive look gives us a chance to get a sense of some of the sentimental details the Nika Ja 2 will deliver. The names of Morant’s family members is emblazoned on the midsole (daughter Kaari, sister Teniya, mother Jamie & father Tee) while a number of Ja’s personal motifs & mottos are engraved in the outsole.

The Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare” drops on October 25th, retailing for $130. Though the drop is a bit far off, you can check out in-hand images embedded below.
