Woven Bamboo Patterns Grace The Nike Giannis Freak 6 “China”

Cutesy characters pop out throughout this red & white colorway.

Woven Bamboo Patterns Grace The Nike Giannis Freak 6 “China”

As the earnest debut of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Giannis Freak 6 looms on August 16th, some of the first colorways that’ll hit the market are coming into clear view. The latest to hit the newswire is a China-centric colorway, sporting some heavy commemorative touches throughout its profile.

On the interior you can catch the foremost detail that caught our eye, a cartoon mushroom character, depicted in the white & red palette that dominates the rest of the shoe. A basketball and what appears to be a bao bun appear on either flank of the geometric GA icon on the tongue. Underneath, hanzi lettering spell out “Antetokounmpo” in Chinese.

Each of these commemorative touches are emphasized by an inset bamboo pattern in the sized-up Swoosh that’s defined each of the Giannis Freak 6 colorways we’ve seen so far. The material & pattern is stamped proudly on the quarter, revealed slightly on the midsole and peeking through the engineered mesh throughout the upper. Nike’s investment in Chinese basketball is well reported, meaning there’s a long list of events this edition could be intended for. However, without official word, any guesses on our part would be exactly that, so we’ll save the speculation.

Release info for this Nike Giannis Freak 6 “China” is scant at the moment. Keep an eye on this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page for further info as it emerges, and check out official images just ahead in the meantime.
