Nike Officially Unveils The Giannis Freak 6; Releases August 16th

We got a first glimpse at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s next signature shoe back in April, and now a few months later, Nike confirms that the Giannis Freak 6 will officially debut on August 16th, 2024.

While official retailer images of an orange/green pair began circulating last week, the rollout selection is actually comprised of a black/volt colorway and red/white look decorated by rose graphics, the latter of which surfaced earlier this year. Those familiar with Antetokounmpo’s signature line are surely aware that most Giannis shoes comes with a story and the Freak 6 rollout duo is no exception. The black/volt pair is called the “Naija” colorway, a nod to the athlete’s Nigerian roots, and the “Roses” pair honors the athlete’s late father, Charles Antetokounmpo.

From a performance standpoint, Antetokounmpo’s signature line continues to emphasize stability and energy return. The lower half features Cushlon 2.0 foam and Air Zoom forefoot cushioning, complemented by TPU midsole elements an and internal containment system for lateral quickness. Additionally, the upper is comprised mostly of mesh and synthetics, enhancing breathability while producing a more lightweight wear.

Both aforementioned Freak 6 colorways are set to release on August 16th, 2024 alongside an apparel collection and another new Giannis shoe; the cost-conscious Immortality 4. Nike hasn’t floated an MSRP at the time of this writing, but consumers should anticipate a price equal to or slightly over the $140 mark of the preceding numbered model.
