The Air Jordan 1 “Gold Medal” releases on August 10th in full family sizing, with a price breakdown as follows: adult ($180), GS ($140), preschool ($85), toddler & infant/crib ($70.) It’s a fitting release towards the end of the Olympics and the podium-topping pedigree that runs through this release is best capped off with a special gilded Jumpman hang tag. Notably, gold hits on “Black Toe” color-blocking appeared via 2014’s Jordan 1 “Melo PE,” leaving the colorway unexplored for over a decade before this release.

Original article posted July 19th, 2024: With the Paris Olympics now just around the corner, there’s a venerable ton of sneaker releases on the slate that’ll clearly commemorate the international games. However, storytelling isn’t limited to just Safari print this year, and a handful of releases will explore the concept in more subterranean fashion. One such shoe is the Air Jordan 1 “Gold Medal,” teased earlier this year and finally nearing its release.
As Jordan Brand has been wont to do in recent years, this is essentially a palette swap built atop OG color-blocking. Using the black base/contrast toe recipe seen on iconic pairs like the Jordan 1 “Bred,” resplendent gold accents are pasted into those divergent sections. A gum sole turns down the brightness underfoot but still manages to close out the look in complementary style. Additionally, leaning into the air of accomplishment, an all-gold Jumpman hang tag arrives with this pair, presenting some customization options for the bold dressers and at least a special edition detail for the collectors.
Zooming out to the wider Jordan Release Dates slate, this black-heavy pair creates some nice contrast with the Jordan 1 “Metallic Gold” from earlier this year, a pair that itself iterated on an OG layout. Going further back, the configuration here bears a striking resemblance to the Air Jordan 1 “Melo.” The increased reflective quality of the leather here, improved AJ1 shape and a chance to cop at retailer might make this an upgrade in most people’s minds, but it’s interesting to note the archival influence all the same.
The Air Jordan 1 “Gold Medal” arrives via SNKRS & select retailers on August 10th. Full family sizes will be on offer. If previous drops hold you can expect the following price breakdown; men’s for $180, GS for $140, preschool for $85 and toddlers & infants for $70. In the meantime, check below for an official look at this upcoming pair.
