The Nike LD-1000 Surfaces In A New General Release Colorway

"Vintage Green" and "Bicoastal" decorate the 1970s runner.

The Nike LD-1000 Surfaces In A New General Release Colorway

Avid readers have heard this story before. A collaborator revives a long-forgotten model, and then the sneaker brand promptly re-introduces it via general release colorways. It’s a trend that’s been adopted by all the biggest companies in recent years, and wouldn’t you know it, it looks like Nike and Stüssy have gone ahead and done it again.

Just as the Southern California skate/surf brand prepares to launch its collaborative Nike LD-1000 capsule on July 12th, official retailer images showcase a new “Vintage Green/Bicoastal” general release pair, signaling that the archived 1970s runner is poised to stick around for a while. For the uninformed, Stüssy is largely responsible for the revival of another Nike shoe, the Air Max 2013, thanks to a 2022 collaboration that marked the model’s first drop in almost a decade.

Steering back to the sneaker at hand, the LD-1000 aligns seamlessly with other 1970s runners with a mesh base, suede toe cap and heel, and grippy tread a la Field General and Astrograbber (both of which have also been brought back in a similar manner). Retro tongue branding and a simple, vintage-inspired color blocking scheme comprise this pair, complete with a white tongue, laces, and blue insoles.

No release date has been set at the time of this writing, but consumers should expect pairs to arrive in Fall/Holiday 2024 following the Stüssy collab.
