Updated July 24th, 2024: Joe Freshgoods took to Instagram to announce that his New Balance 990v6 “Prom Blue” & “Paris Red” drop on July 27th at his gallery exhibition. Simply based off of the names & previous JFG capsules, “Paris Red” is expected to be exclusive to his France exhibition, while “Prom Blue” will assumedly get a wider release in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted with finer pricing & launch details. For now, check out the new campaign / product images that accompanied this announcement just ahead.

Updated July 22nd, 2024: A few weeks following the first teaser images, Joe Freshgoods has pulled the curtain off for his next New Balance collaboration. In addition to showing the all-red and all-baby blue New Balance 990v6 pairs on tap, still ostensibly a reference to the Chicago state flag, he announced details for an art exhibition bearing the same “A Friend Named Cousin” subtitle.

It’ll take place from July 26th to July 30th at the Les Filles du Calvaire gallery in Paris, almost assuredly coinciding with an initial release. Further info on both the activation and shoe’s wide release is expected as we near closer to those dates. For now, catch official campaign images just below.

Original article posted July 2nd, 2024: There aren’t many names in the canon of New Balance collaborators that are as much of a draw as Joe Freshgoods. Though he was just tabbed for the re-introduction of the New Balance 1000 in April, he’s already circling back once again. He took to Instagram to showcase early images of his take on the New Balance 990v6, expected to drop as the year draws on.

The pair he personally showcased is a monochromatic drenching of the shoe in Sky Blue, a palatable tonal look at first glance. However, earlier images of an identically clad Red 990v6 connected the pair to JFG. The official unveiling of this baby blue counterpart points heavily to those reports being on target.

Additionally, Freshgoods showcased two contrasting gradient New Balance boxes in the same colors, a tacit confirmation of this upcoming two-pack. With both pieces of the puzzle in place, this collection is all but guaranteed to be a nod to the Chicago state flag, continuing the personal storytelling that’s marked every JFG New Balance drop so far.

Those early pairs had the red pair tabbed for August 2024, but official release details have yet to emerge. In the meantime, check out all the looks we’ve gotten so far, and keep our Sneaker Release Dates hub handy for the latest info.
