The Bape Sta Oversized Returns In A Trio Of Clean White Options

The tentpole sneaker in the A Bathing Ape catalog for more than two decades, the Bape Sta rolls on, even in the heat of controversy. A touch first debuted back in January, oversized shooting star logos are the newest twist the Japanese imprint has added to their lifestyle shoe, and it continues to factor into their plans heavily with a new collection of colorways about to debut.

Continuing classic two-tone formulations, the latest lot relies on the same color-blocking scheme across all pairs; tone-on-white layouts utilize contrast coloring on the heel tag, outsole, Gorilla logo and of course, the sized up shooting star logo. Nearly doubling in size, the jagged iconography now stretches onto the midsole and vamp overlay with this reformatted cut, making it an even more central piece of the throwback design. In addition to the olive, green & black editions featured here, a red pair will join in with the same launch date.

As with any of our Bape coverage in recent memory, this wouldn’t be complete without at least a mention of the Nike Bape lawsuit. While the Japanese brand is absolutely still bound to modify their designs, the rollout of those changes will be far more intensive than could be accomplished in a two month span. A concrete date for those changes won’t likely be made public, but it adds some pressure to each successive Bape Sta drop as potentially the last handful of un-modified editions.

The next batch of Bape Sta “Oversized Logo” pairs launches on June 15th, retailing for $309. Keep this link handy to pick up yours upon release.
