Upcoming Jordan “Dongdan” Pack Pays Homage To China’s Streetball Culture

Nike’s sponsorship of global basketball is well documented at this point, but especially their efforts stimulating the growth of the game in China. Last year brought the inaugural Dongdan collection, a commemorative pack of releases that paid homage to the mainland’s foremost courts and the streetball tournament it hosts at the start of every summer. The 2023 edition included three silhouettes- the Air Jordan 5 Low, Jordan 6 Low and Jordan 37. Widening the range past Mike’s shoes for 2024, this year’s edition is now coming into focus, roping in the Jordan Spizike Low, Jordan Tatum 2 and Jordan Stadium 90.

All three of the shoes featured share the same multi-color palette of teal, “Indigo Burst” purple and magenta. The lattermost is the easiest to trace, taken from the rosy shade of the playing surface. While official ties remain unconfirmed,  the cooler hues likely come from the city life that surrounding the courts. After all, Dongdan sits smack in the middle of Beijing proper.

The Jordan Spizike Low and Stadium 90 apply the concept in rather reserved applications, painting rainbow gradients onto otherwise white-dominant outfits. The Jordan Tatum 2, on the other hand, fully embraces the vibrant motif, painting heel to toe with that deep purple and applying in a heatmap-like arrangement. Regardless of the visual differences, the three shoes tie together with embroidered details, alternating between their typical Jumpman/Nike Air branding and embroidered Hanzi type.

Judging off of last year’s slate, however, expect the “Dongdan” collection sometime between June and August. Scroll just ahead for detailed images. “Where To Buy” sections alongside contain specific release details, but keep our Jordan Release Dates 2024 page close by for up-to-the-minute info.

Staying with the Jumpman, possibly the biggest drop since the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” lands with the Travis Scott Elkins shoes on May 25th.
