Though innovation is part and parcel of Nike’s creative strategy, an unintended consequence can sometimes be leaving perfectly functional tech in the past. When React was introduced in 2017, most figured it was the end of the preceding Lunarlon hardware, and they were right- for a time. The Nike Lunar Roam brought back Lunarlon at the tail end of last year and the silhouette hasn’t looked back since, now emerging in a “Midnight Navy” adornment.
The model has taken on plenty of expressive colorways in its debut run, but this formulation brings things down a notch. Relying on the indisputable combination of navy, black and white, allows the compositional features to speak far louder. The translucent graphic patch at the quarter partially covers ReactWire support, while the Lunar sole “accordions” to provide extra propulsion. In the Nike running space, this palette is synonymous with Fragment Design, utilized for the LD-1000, Roshe Cortez and Air Max LD-1000 in past years. Even without any outside ties, this Nike Lunar Roam presents a no-frills option for those longing for Lunarlon drops of old, or those looking to get in on the hype.
The Nike Lunar Roam “Midnight Navy” will more than likely drop this Fall. Expect a $150 retail price if and when you come across this pair.
Transitioning to the Jordan Release Dates 2024 calendar, the next big launch comes off the board this weekend with the Air Jordan 11 Low “Space Jam.”
