Japan’s ALWAYTH Teams Up With adidas For A Samba Collaboration

Thanks to a cast of acclaimed collaborators, what began as an indoor soccer shoe is now one of the most fashionable pick-ups on the sneaker market. Japanese imprint ALWAYTH (@allweatherproof) is the latest name to put a spin on the adidas Samba, leveraging a diverse range of materials that speak to the brand’s identity at the intersection of streetwear and outdoor-focused design.

Canvas, corduroy, and patent leather appear consistently on three separate colorways, ousting the silhouette’s traditional leather and suede makeup entirely. Canvas floods the base of each shoe, overlaid by corduroy on the stripes, eyelet panel, and heel, while patent leather takes over the toe. A blue-dominant pair boasts an almost monotone upper with similar shades throughout, while red and green colorways work in contrast through blue and brown corduroy, respectively. Each pair comes decorated by gold “SAMBALWAYTH” co-branding on the quarter, matched by metallic eyestays and gold tongue logos. Keeping with that cohesion, gum soles and multi-colored rope laces appear on all three looks.

While the trio doesn’t deliver any specific weatherproofing properties, the overarching aesthetic does well to appease the ongoing trail shoe trend with a skew towards elevated, premium design.
