Next up in the New Balance 1000 schedule of events — a collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore, the NYC-based brand founded by MADE In USA creative director Teddy Santis. Revealing a first look on his Instagram Stories, Santis takes a trip down memory lane, recalling memories of his time in Astoria, Queens back in 1998.
The next ALD New Balance release departs from the pre-aged aesthetic, instead opting for a sportier vibe that fits the New Balance 1000s tech-friendly design. The selected colorway is also relatively unexpected from the imprint, merely relying on a sporty white/matte silver colorway with the brand’s bold-typed abbreviated logo appearing on the tongue as well as at the forefoot of the sneaker. The simplicity of the colors lends well to the layered construction of the 1000 as the distinct panels are easily recognized, but there’s some added touchpoints via the perforated toe-box, opaque lacelets that go down the tongue, and the mesh-like pattern (or texture) on the insoles. Finally, roped laces with a hiking-style dotting completes the look.
At this juncture, a release date isn’t known, but given Teddy’s first-hand leak, we presume a release is likely dropping sometime this month. As you already know, the New Balance 1000 first debut via a collaboration with Joe Freshgoods, and also hit the GR radar via the silver/black colorway in late April. It does appear that New Balance will continue the slow and steady build for this reissue, so stay tuned for further developments as we learn more.
