Andrew Rizzo The Nike Air Foamposite One has helped write an important chapter of sneaker history, and one of its most influential colorways is coming back soon – it’s just a matter of time. The “Galaxy” Foams were initially set to return in Spring 2024, but plans have changed and now it appears that the shoes will drop in Spring 2025, a full calendar year later than expected.
Originally released as part of the Nike’s 2012 All-Star Collection, the “Galaxy” Foams took the sneaker world by storm with the first use of graphic prints on Foamposite shoes. The starry blue/purple mix is perfectly married with the futuristic, intergalactic properties of the model itself, and the aura behind the shoe has led to sky-high resale prices approaching upwards of $2,000. Save for a different space-themed “Big Bang” Foamposite, the shoes have never seen a proper re-release.
In addition to the new February 2025 target reported by Sole Retriever, we’re also learning from @zsneakerheadz that the “Galaxy” Foams will release in very limited quantities when they do eventually make their long-anticipated return. That context begs the question; will the retro follow the original with an NBA All-Star Weekend drop? Nike and Jordan Brand make an annual celebration out of All-Star Weekend every year with new footwear, and few shoes can create and sustain hype like the “Galaxy” Foams.
Time will tell, but for now, Foamposite fanatics are given an exercise in patience while we wait on firm details from Nike. Not for nothing, Nike’s re-incorporating Foamposite shoes into its lineup with a slew of releases on the docket. The Foamposite One “Eggplant” dropped earlier this year, and the Foamposite One “Royal” and long-forgotten Clogposite take to shelves later on.
