The Original Forrest Gump Nike Cortez Just Sold For $57,500

Earlier in 2024, it was reported the Forrest Gump Cortez would be returning this year, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given how much Nike has been pushing the shoe as part of its seasonal in-line product. Perhaps as a well-planned event leading up to the launch, the actual pair worn by Tom Hanks during the filming of the 1994 film went up for auction, closing with a high bid of a whopping $57,500.

If you recall, the Nike Cortez was gifted to Forrest by his childhood friend Jenny Curran in the 1970s. When she left Greenbow, Alabama without notice yet again, Forrest embarked on a coast-to-coast run for three years, unwittingly helping a number of struggling businessmen along the way.

According to Heritage Auctions, the shoes were obtained from Paramount Pictures and comes with a certificate of authentication from the auction house. The shoes are completely worn as if they actually endured a three-year jog. The original Swoosh logos have become unstitched, while scuffing all around the shoe and the worn-down ripple sole adds that distinct aged character.

As of publishing this article, a release date for the Forrest Gump Nike Cortez haven’t been revealed yet, but expect a drop this Summer 2024.
