It’s one of the hottest regional debates in the history of sneakers- was it New York City or the greater Baltimore area who put Foamposites on the map? They may not be choosing sides, but Nike is carving out an upcoming edition of the model for those on one side of the argument with the Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV.”
At least in initial @zsneakerheadz mockups, the resemblance to the “Rose Gold” Nike Air Foamposite One from 2018 is striking, holding onto the same rosy metallic overtones and a translucent icy sole underfoot. The true intrigue is added in the overt allusion to the metro area on the pull tab, where DMV lettering stands proud. As always, it’s important to note that these initial images sometimes belie the actual construction of the shoe, so the final product may diverge from these mockups.
Importantly, while this may be the most straightforward homage to the region, it’s not the first time Nike has shown love. Last year, the “Dream A World” Foamposite got its initial debut in the DMV, with the first 850 pairs releasing through Whitaker Group channels. However, with that pair receiving a wider release a few months later, this release marks a decidedly more dedicated special edition.
The Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV” is slated for a Holiday 2024 release. A specific MSRP hasn’t been confirmed, but if the retail price from similar releases hold, they’ll command something in the range of $240.
Elsewhere for Nike, the Nike Book 1 “Hike” recieved official images ahead of their April debut.
