The Nike Ja 1 “Iron Grey” Releases On May 1st

Updated April 22nd, 2024: The Nike JA 1 “Iron Grey” will release on May 1st in both Adult and GS sizes.

Ja Morant is Nike Basketball’s first Gen Z athlete, and the marketing efforts surrounding his first shoe demonstrate the brand’s vested interest in the success of his signature line. While older folks of Morant’s generation can fit into any number of adult Nike Ja 1 pairs, the Beaverton brand shows special attention to the kids with an exclusive upcoming colorway.

Official images of the grade-school pair reveal an “Iron Grey” base and sole, brightened up by multicolored accents and a grey/white pattern on the lower eyestay. Mismatched tongue labels complement soft purple hits on the midsole and heel, the latter element featuring Morant’s #12 stitched in inverse blue/pink coloring. Otherwise, the design is complete with a semi-transparent TPU Nike Swoosh that wraps around the heel to cover both the lateral and medial sides.
