Nike Air Max sole swaps have simultaneously produced some of the line’s most iconic and controversial pairs. The Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1 stands out as a unanimous classic, while fusions of the Air Max 97/Plus, 90/1, and even BW/97 have been met with a love it or hate it attitude.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new model of this hybrid genre as Nike now favors unique re-imaginations like the Air Max 90 Futura and new Air Max Plus Drift. However, these early 2010s Nike inventions now creep back into consciousness by way of a newly surfaced Air Max 95/90 sample, the first of its kind.

This 2013 pair marries the upper of the OG “Neon” Air Max 95 with a black Air Max 90 sole, masterfully delivering two iconic builds in one action-packed silhouette. The height sits between that of a traditional 95 and 90, made slimmer by the sole-swap, and the design boasts continuity through neon hits on the air units and toe.
