New Balance’s Utility-Driven 1906 Gets A Pastel Update

All eyes are on New Balance in 2024. They’re hitting on all the right cylinders, delivering impressive in-line “general release” options to support their collaborative endeavors with their creative and athlete partners. The 1906 silhouette is a silhouette that’s ahead of the pack on both fronts, with the newer Utility model gaining traction at the right time.

Unlike the more ubiquitous 1906R model, the 1906U is designed for rougher surfaces with its trail-adjacent design. The upper has that familiar 1906 DNA that the sneaker community has come to love, but with added overlays for a bit more protection at the cost of some breathability. The modifications are most evident at the fore-foot via the re-tooled toe-box, but it’s this added dimension that lends well to more color-blocking creativity as evident is this newly launched” Clay Ash” colorway. New Balance is recognizing the season as well, as the soft grey is complemented by pastel, muted shades to sit about a grey and burgundy midsole.

New Balance stockists overseas have these available now, but we’ll keep you notified on a stateside release.

In other NB news, check out the refreshed executions of the New Balance 550, which now feature a variety of new materials such as patent leather and animal patterns.
