The Nike Cortez Gets Hit With A Familiar “Watermelon” Colorway

Is there a Nike model that does spring better than the Nike Cortez? The breathable, lightweight and ever-stylish model has been a warm weather staple since its 1972 introduction, creating a decades-long demand that necessitates new colorways every season. As we near the true kickoff of Spring ’24, the latest Nike Cortez TXT adorns the shoe in a familiar colorway for Nike Air Max 1 fans- a combination of “Fir” and “Pinksicle” that instantly conjures up “Watermelon.”

As is wont to happen on the Nike Cortez, the primary tone isn’t entirely consistent throughout the shoe. Rather, it’s used as two adjacent shades, a dark pine green hitting the uppers, while a slightly lighter hue closer to seafoam dresses the overlays.

The “Pinksicle” that provides accenting is implemented in very linear fashion, manifesting as a swipe of color on the midsole and entirely dressing the branding on the shoe, be it the medial Swoosh or the leather heel cup. For those with a keen eye, the TXT branding in the title tips off their construction- the refurbished model swaps out their traditional materials for a combination of suede, leather and textile.

There’s no concrete release date attached to the Nike Cortez “Fir/Pinksicle,” but we’re expecting a drop in the coming weeks at the typical $90 price point. Scroll down for an official suite of images.

In other news for the Swoosh, La Flame’s signature shoe got an official date for their debut- the Jordan Jumpman Jack releases towards the end of next month.
