Pulling its main aesthetic cues from the streetwear looks of the 1990s, Song For The Mute’s third collaboration with adidas centers around three new adidas Country releases trending towards a release late this month.
The grey pair featured here exemplifies the retro lean of the collection, but their black and teal counterparts are where it’s clearest. The latter references the vibrant, campy windbreakers of the decade in its stylings, pulling its primary shade and nylon construction from there. The paracord laces seen through all three pairs use that exact same reference point, but the black pair goes elsewhere in outerwear. Instead, they evoke leather jackets, though the contrast white side accents keep them from being a one-to-one tribute. As a whole, there’s a lot of additional depth added to the Country OG model in this collection- namely, exposed foam peeks through on the tongue, the traditional Three Stripes branding gets a plush revamp, and an additional suede patch crops up towards the toe box.
As with its past two adidas link-ups, Song For The Mute will have a limited apparel line dropping alongside the three sneakers here. The eight piece collection spans track pants, sweatshirts and a few pieces of outerwear. Though adidas themselves have not confirmed a release date for adidas x SFTM 003, certain outlets have begun listing the three Country OGs with a February 21st date. Initial looks are limited but scroll down for the images we have so far of this upcoming collaboration.
That’s not the end of adidas news this week, though – two frequent collaborators are reuniting for the BAPE x adidas Stan Smith.
