The Air Jordan 1 Mid Evokes Mike’s Beginnings in “Industrial Blue”

The Air Jordan 1 Mid Evokes Mike’s Beginnings in “Industrial Blue”

Beginning with the Metallic line of the Air Jordan 1, the white-dominant, two-tone rendition of Mike’s first shoe is one of the most instantly recognizable for the iconic shoe. Tapping into that heritage, the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid “Industrial Blue” offers that historical take for a women’s only release.

A blueprint we’ve seen plenty of times before, this version of the Air Jordan 1 Mid is one that runs counter or adjacent to colorways that’ve already hit their High counterparts. In this case, the Industrial Blue that paints the swoosh, sole & branding may be novel in this exact shade. There’s no doubt, however, that the layout of those colors is meant to evoke some of the first Jordan 1 colorways, with the closest direct comp the Metallic Navy first debuted in 1985. One additional detail to that point is the slightly off-white midsole, perhaps an embrace of the aged, vintage look that’s taken the sneaker world by storm.

Amid a non-stop stream of new Jordan 1s, the “Industrial Blue” Mid plays to traditional sensibilities, saving the intrigue in its design for the finer details. Arriving in women’s sizing for $135, these are expected to roll out to retailers in the coming weeks.
