Nike is once again honoring the influential contributions of Jackie Robinson with a special footwear release that commemorates his legacy of breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball. Previously releasing in the form of a Dunk Low and an Air Force 1, Nike now looks to the re-crafted Air Max 1 ’86 as a canvas to pay tribute to one of the most important professional athletes in history.
Decorated in an elegant mix of white, dark navy blue, gold, and gum, this Air Max 1 ’86 is built with a premium assortment of materials that include soft suede and perforated suede leather. Golden detailing arrives via the metallic lace dubrae, lace eyelets, Nike Air branding at the heel, and the baseball diamond-shaped “42” patch on the tongue’s pull-tab.
Inside the shoe’s insole are unique patches that denote the significance of this release — the April 15th, 2024 recognition of Jackie Robinson Day.
