Studio Hagel Crafts adidas Sambas Inspired By Embroidered Napkins

With the success of the Wales Bonner Samba collaborations, sneakerheads are looking for more imagination on the popular lifestyle shoe. Although not an official project with adidas, we may have found something right up the alley of the new generation of Samba fanatics.

These are the latest to come out of Amsterdam’s Hagel, the renowned concept studio that has done extensive work in the past with the Nike and other major footwear brands (check their Instagram, it’s a must-follow). In addition to dreaming up some incredible footwear using iconic models as their base, Hagel also launched their own in-house footwear line in early 2022 called the Shroud.

These foursome of Sambas feature delicate uppers inspired by hand-embroidered napkins, each covered by delicate fabrics decorated by a sprinkling of blossoms and matched with an endearing piping that mimics the edges of dainty handkerchiefs. Four colorways have been created as part of this fun project, although it’s unclear of Hagel will ever make these prototypes available on their online store.
