The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 has its eyelets set on a big 2024.
Born in 2008, the performance-running silhouette has had a resurgence in popularity over the last three years, delivering a taste of “Y2K” fashion for those interested in the retro aesthetic. Many of the stability-focused sneaker’s ensembles have featured some degree of “Metallic Silver,” repackaging old school design cues faithfully for a modern audience. Some makeovers have skewed entirely in the lifestyle realm, employing materials and modifications more fit for a cool walk to the store than for racking up miles at marathon pace. Recently, a women’s-exclusive pair clad in shades of off white and beige surfaced, revealing some of the ASICS model’s plans for the new year.
A “colorless” mesh base sets the stage for hits of faint grey and light brown. A combination of synthetic and suede materials is overlaid atop the breathable base layer, creating a comfortable, but durable proposition. Underfoot, the chunky sole unit opts for a cream-colored look that provides an “aged” touch. Visible GEL cushioning and stability structures also opt for a yellow tinge, making for a fashionable update to the 15-year-old performance offering.
Enjoy retailer photography of the pair ahead, as you wait for firm asics.com launch details. The women’s GEL-Kayano 14 is priced at $150 USD.
