Black Scales Land On The Nike Air Force 1 Low Ahead Of Year Of The Dragon

Nike’s “Year of the Dragon” collection continues to grow by the day, having recently expanded to include another Air Force 1 Low.

Unlike a previously-seen option, the latest commemorative take on Bruce Kilgore’s iconic design from 1983 opts for a mostly “White/Black” color scheme. Leather construction lands across the sneaker’s upper, abandoning the nubuck and textured panels on pairs for adults. The more reserved style is currently only being offered in kid’s sizing, but that may change. Nevertheless, the festive Air Force 1 calls attention with its iridescent profile swooshes, lace dubrae, and tongue label. Scales on the Achilles’ Heel and Chinese characters on the sockliners, however, steal the show. These two design cues make the most overt nod to the impending Chinese New Year.

Underfoot, Kilgore’s made-for-basketball sole unit keeps things refreshing. The oft-imitated tooling revels in a special “Oil Green” tone that’s also landed on the Air Jordan 1 “Year of the Dragon” expected January 2024. A semi-translucent finish injects more personality into the sole unit, complementing the iridescent touches up top well.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait for firm nike.com launch details. The Big Kid’s Air Force 1 is priced at $100 USD.
