This Nike Air Force 1 Low Includes Instructions On How To Be Greener

Nike’s Air Force 1 Low has had a blockbuster year, appearing in a health mix of old and new school styles. As Bruce Kilgore’s iconic design from the 1980s inches closer to a new year, the silhouette continues to help promote the brand’s sustainability efforts.

Titled “Move to Zero,” the Swoosh has been on a mission towards zero carbon and zero waste by 2025. To this front, the world’s biggest sportswear institution has reimagined manufacturing processes in addition to changing energy usage at all of its physical locations. Its eco-friendlier product, however, has been the most visible, delivering modified takes of the Air Force 1, Dunk Low, and other icons from its storied catalog.

As December approaches closer, Kilgore’s low-top icon has returned in an ensemble constructed with at least 20% recycled materials by weight. A textile upper works in-tandem with synthetic leather overlays at the mid-foot and spine to further contribute to saving the planet. The bulk of the sneaker is clad in a pitch-“Black” tone, allowing the slightest of contrast to revel in the spotlight. Branding on the top of the tongue introduces a vibrant neon green tone that only appears again on the shoe box. Special logos land on the sockliners, with sole units opting for a modern Nike Grind construction as well (Nike Grind is a compound crafted from up-cycled manufacturing floor scraps). Returning to the packaging, the Air Force 1 Low arrives wrapped in paper that instructs users on how to use the brown shoe box for their recycling efforts.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch at the top of 2024. The eco-conscious Air Force 1 is priced at $115 USD.
