The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 Undergoes A Pitch-Dark Denim Treatment

Last August Nike reimagined the iconic Air Max 1 through a clad-denim constructed lens. In the year since the Tinker Hatfield design has returned to its original circa 1986 Big Bubble tooling, the latter of which is now amplified through a more reserved amount of denim textures.

Compiling a cohort of textiles, the upper effortlessly transitions between thick suede, tumbled leather and a sturdy denim structure. Most of the latter is dominated by pitch-dark hues that cure the supple leather mudguard and heel alongside the “Anthracite” tinted denim mid-foot overlay and heel counter. What’s more, the low-top trim’s underlays are cast in a spring-ready pastel contrast, amplifying the suede vamp and upper collar in a faint shade of blue while seldom denim treatments return along the “Pink Foam” tongue construction. Much like its upcoming OG “Royal” effort, the “Coconut Milk” doused sole unit harkens to the silhouette enlarged four-chamber cushioning system.

The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Black Denim” is expected to release in the Spring of 2024 for a retail price of $170. In the meantime, the pair can be seen ahead in detailed imagery.

In other news, the adidas Simpson’s collection releases later this month.
