Staying ahead of the game and “in the know” is what moves the needle, right? Early leaks and unsanctioned previews are part of the daily life of a sneakerhead, but Nike just upped the ante by revealing first looks at a number of key releases arriving in the new year.
We’ve already individually covered some of the highlights, like the return of the Royal Foamposites and the Air Sunder Max. That extra spotlight shouldn’t take away from the rest of the batch, which covered ground from Nike ACG (the Exploraid and Torre Mid) to Nike SB (next year’s Valentine’s Day SB Dunks).
Other standouts included an upcoming “City Pack” of Air Force 1s, which aims to spotlight some of the more unheralded cities when it comes to their contributions to global trends, two key 2000s-inspired runners from the Pegasus line, and even a set of highly-collectible Dunk Lows.
A full recap of the Nike SNKRS 2024 Preview is just ahead.
The Return of legendary Dunks
Three icons of the early Dunk era — the “Ultraman”, “Reverse Curry” and, “Silver Surfer” — are confirmed to return in Fall 2024. The first two are remembered among the co.jp exclusives, while the third “Silver/Blue” once featured the actual Silver Surfer of Marvel Comics fame on the insole. It’s not confirmed whether or not that detail will return, but it seems unlikely due to trademarks.
2024 is Foamposite friendly
Nike is bringing back the original Dark Neon Royal Foamposites with some forgotten details that were last seen on the legendary phone ads; the black/blue carbon fiber shank and blue outline on the Swoosh are back. A first look at the Eggplant Foamposites are also revealed.
Air Force 1 Takes A World Tour
The famed Bruce Kilgore-designed lifestyle basketball shoe is hardly new to regional exclusives. For 2024, we’ll see Las Vegas, Seoul, and Shanghai receive their own unique iterations with each pair featuring hidden nuanced details. Las Vegas’ pair is inspired by the vibrant neon lights of the strip; Seoul’s is inspired by the nighttime reflections on the ground; Shanghai’s is inspired by the city’s love of Wheat-colored AF1s.
The Air Sunder Max is back
This classic Air Max-cushioned training/lifestyle shoe was an absolute must-have in NYC. An Uptown/Bronx staple. Formerly the Air Sunder Max, Nike has altered the name to Air Max SNDR.
The Air 180 is back in proper form
Recognized as one of the History Of Air chapters in 2005, the Air 180, which featured 180-degrees of Air, will receive a true-to-OG re-issue in 2024. An inverted “Full 180” colorway is also coming.
Mule-fanatics, rejoice
Once a straight-to-outlet speciality, the short-lived Nike Clogposite from the early 2000s, which were designed as a post-game relaxation shoe, is back in 2024. Rumors of a collaboration with Supreme also surfaced earlier this year.
Another original Big Bubble colorway
After the ceremonious unveiling of the “Big Bubble” for Air Max Day 2023, Nike is set to deliver the equally-timeless Royal colorway as a women’s exclusive (extended sizes confirmed, so don’t worry, fellas.)
Nike ACG is going hard
Ranging from forgotten classics to souped-up modern marvels, the Nike ACG footwear line-up for 2024 is very promising. Highlights include the ACG Torre Mid for Winter 2023, the turn of some cozy slip-ons like the Izy and Rufus, and the debut of the Mountain Fly Low 2 GTX.
SB Dunks are for lovers
For Valentine’s Day, Nike is delivering two SB Dunks inspired by Paris. Some elegant artwork is hidden within two colorways of light sail and dark burgundy.
The Pegasus legend is re-established
Nike is cashing in on the 2000s runner wave with the release of the Pegasus 2k5 and its modern variation – the Pegasus Wave.
The Terra Humara is back
Following Undefeated’s collaboration in late 2023, the Terra Humara stands to be a common sight in 2024.
Footscape weaves itself into fashion trends
The ceremonious return of the Air Footscape Woven continues in 2024 with a new “Rainbow” colorway.
A game-changer from 1977 is back nearly fifty years later
A true revolutionary of footwear manufacturing, the LD-1000 racing shoe featured a waffle sole that has become one of the most brand’s most historic achievements.
