Nike’s Dunk Low Enjoys A “Black/University Gold” Update

Another style worthy of the "Reverse Goldenrod" nickname.

Nike’s Dunk Low Enjoys A “Black/University Gold” Update

The Nike Dunk Low has cemented itself in the mainstream sneaker zeitgeist over the last three years. High-profile collaborations have helped it acquire attention, but simple, two-tone color schemes have also been vital in the silhouette’s success.

As November inches closer, Peter Moore’s iconic design from 1985 has appeared in a season-appropriate mix of “Black” and “University Gold.” The color combination has already led some netizens to dub the pair as the “Reverse Goldenrod” – a nod to the original Nike Dunk prepped for the University of Iowa in the “Be True to Your School” collection. Pitch-dark leather panels wrap around the toe, along the tongue, and across the heel, allowing for space in-between to indulge in a rich yellow hue. Profile swooshes, however, feature non-standard details like an exposed contrasting “University Gold” stitch at its center, as well as a checkerboard-patterned tab near the lateral heel.

Elsewhere, construction around the collar opts for a textile build that differs from traditional pairs of Moore’s Dunk design; tongues follow suit. Branding on the tongue label and Achilles’ Heel keep things on-theme in “Black/University Gold,” but sole units underfoot opt for a more understated finish. Midsoles favor a clean “White” look that allows for the upper to revel in the spotlight, while starkly contrasting the dark-colored traction underneath.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. A firm nike.com launch hasn’t been disclosed by the brand as of the time of this writing, but that’s likely to change soon. The shoe is priced at $125 USD.
