The 2023-24 NBA Season is just a few weeks away and promises to be just as contentious as last year. From championship contenders stockpiling star talent to a bountiful amount of trades and highly-anticipated rookie seasons, Monday’s NBA Media Day showcased a first look at the League’s newly formed rosters, identities and of course – shoes.
While classic models and old-school colorways were in full force throughout the day– like Chris Paul pulling up to the Warrior’s media availability with his OG Jordan CP3 III in tow –the basketball ecosystem’s various athletic brands have introduced six inaugural signature silhouettes this coming season. From an all-new colorway of Anthony Edwards’ adidas AE1 to Austin Reaves joining LeBron James as the only signature player on the Lakers’, a number of athletes decided to provide a deeper look into their debut shoe.
As the next crop of signature wearers broadens the landscape’s footwear solutions, seasoned veterans like LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan looked toward the archives for their media day footwear. DeRozan amplified the red trim of his Bulls uniform with the quick strike Nike Air More Uptempo “Chicago” while The King broke out one half of the LeBron X Low “Championship Pack” instead of dawning his recently released 21st signature.
