Though accomplished in absolutely every regard, rarely was Issey Miyake’s name heard in the world of sneakers. That, however, is soon to change for the better, as his eponymous label just unveiled their first-ever collaboration with New Balance.
Thrust down the runway of their Spring/Summer 2024 show, Issey Miyake’s first sneaker with New Balance is not what you’d expect. Shying away from the MADE in USA and MADE in UK fare more prevalent from the footwear brand’s extended family, the Japanese label has selected what looks to be the Minimus 10v1. A low profile, abelit all-terrain model designed for the most minimalist of trail runners, the silhouette typically boasts a sleek mesh and synthetic construction with a thin Vibram sole underfoot. And though the latter remains on this collaborative rendition, the upper appears to have been upgraded with more premium materials.
Prepared in both a white and black colorway, this upcoming Issey Miyake x New Balance sneaker should be arriving at select retailers as well as Issey Miyake flagships early next year. In the meantime, enjoy a look at the shoe ahead (images via Highsnobiety).
Speaking of New Balance, the Concepts New Balance 998 C-Note is returning on October 5th.
