Back in 2012, British designer Craig Green crafted a custom adidas sneaker for David Beckham to coincide with the London Olympics. A decade later, Green has become one of the Three Stripes’ collaborators, offering new takes on existing designs. The latest?: An adidas Stan Smith crafted entirely of BOOST foam.
Part of a larger collection that transforms adidas Originals classics, the BOOST Stan Smith isn’t the first time the brand’s game-changing cushioning material appears on the old school tennis shoe. Yet, Craig Green’s proposition introduces an experimental result on-par with some of his other work. The sneaker appears in two monochromatic styles, allowing for the build to steal the spotlight, not the color scheme. Every panel is faithfully recreated in BOOST, with logos on the tongue being reworked into a simpler offering. Additional structures are added to the sole unit, perhaps as a way to stabilize the foam compound. Each part of Green’s Stan Smith, however, is clad in either a white or black tone.
Enjoy detailed photography of both pairs ahead, as you wait for an adidas CONFIRMED app and wide retailer launch soon.
