Though typically alone in their antics, MSCHF is certainly no stranger to the odd collaboration. Their very first pair of Gobstompers, for example, was designed in partnership with Jimmy Fallon, who helped build up hype for the shoe’s release by fronting its campaign. And after joining forces with none other than Crocs earlier in the year, the Brooklyn-based art collective is pocketing yet another celebrity endorsement — that of Kid Cudi, specifically.
Named after and heavily informed by Kid Cudi’s newest studio album — “Insano” — this collaborative rendition of the Super Normal 2 changes up the sneaker’s typical construction. In place of leathers and suedes, the upper is covered in a thick, multi-color fleece, whose texture is heavily reminiscent of a tufted rug. Various shades of purple and blue are then applied over top, directly referencing the covert art for Cudi’s forthcoming musical project.
