Following a duo of “Brogue”-treated offerings, Nike has recently positioned its Air Force 1 with an expanded range of inspirational design ethos. For its latest installment, the Bruce Kilgore design heads to the local tailor for a custom outfit imbued with a versatile range of textiles.
Tweed, suede, corduroy and houndstooth textures create an overt hand-crafted aesthetic with each panel residing in a different fabric than the last. Starting at the vamp and profile swooshes, chestnut-treated corduroy brings an elemental fall finish while tweed mudguards and houndstooth-constructed quarter panels amplify the cozy environment. What’s more, dark navy hues concentrate along the eye stay and collar in a trimmed suede appearance while the latter tint further consumes the ribbed tongue construction and inner lining. Elsewhere, the multi-material proposition cleans up in a set of complementary “Sail” hues that anchor the laces, stitched tongue tabs and clad sole unit underfoot.
