The Kobe Bryant Estate worked out a favorable deal with NIKE, Inc. in March 2022. Over the last year, both partners have both released old product and teased new offerings all while adidas – Bryant’s endorser before the Swoosh – has also revisited its designs once backed by the Los Angeles Lakers legend.
In February, adidas Basketball revealed its entire lineup for the year in Salt Lake City. Its showcase was divided by its past, present, and future. Silhouettes features in the most former category include the T-MAC 3, Rivalry Low, and Crazy 8, Bryant’s first signature model.
Last seen in its original splendor in the mid-2010s, the adidas Crazy 8 has long been a favorite of basketball and Kobe Bryant fans. Informed by both the brand’s EQT and Feet You Wear (FYW) lines, the chunky signature model saw a young Bryant wow audiences everywhere while he donned the number 8. The late guard’s relationship with the German sportswear behemoth soured in the early aughts, but the collaborators left a lasting impression on the sport and fashion of basketball. The Crazy 8 is expected to appear in handfuls of styles over the next five months, but its first modern retro will be a classic “Core Black” and “Cloud White” option. Faded panels across the upper deliver a slightly-different look than found on Bryant’s original pair, but a one-to-one retro is expected to return eventually.
Enjoy official photos of the iconic basketball sneaker ahead. The shoes are set to arrive across Asia tomorrow, August 1st. A stateside adidas.com launch should follow come September.
