Updated May 10th, 2024: Juice confirms on Instagram that the “What The CLOT” Dunks are releasing today in-store at Juice LA. The shoes will drop online next week. This was Edison Chen’s last project with Nike before joining forces with adidas.
CLOT and NIKE, Inc. have been uniting East and West for almost 20 years. To celebrate the achievement, both institutions have prepped the “What the? CLOT” Dunk, a pair that brings together design cues from 17 different releases from over the years.
Recent rumors have claimed that the mismatched Nike Dunk Low is Edison Chen’s last project with the Swoosh conglomerate, but the CLOT frontman hasn’t confirmed the rumor. Nonetheless, the “What the? CLOT” collaboration celebrates the Eastern brand’s 20th anniversary, while reflecting on its creative endeavors. Nods to the Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” from 2006 and Air Jordan 13 Low “Terracotta” from 2018, amongst others, share real estate on the low-top model. And while compelling in its own right, the sneaker is joined by an experimental trading card program that injects another level of collectibility to the “What the? CLOT” project.
Chen and company, in partnership with leading trading card brand Kakawow, have designed 23 different cards to be included with each pair of shoes. Each pair referenced on the CLOT x Nike Dunk enjoys its own card, with six additional cards comprising of parallel and numbered, autographed ones. Professional Sports Authenticator will accept all cards from the aforementioned set for authentication and grading.
Enjoy official campaign photography of the collaboration ahead. CLOT’s next Nike sneaker launches globally on July 29th at select JUICE selling doors for $150 USD.
In related sneaker news, the Air Jordan catalog continues to grow.
