Michael Le For the better part of its existence, the Air Jordan 2 was essentially treated as the middle child of the Jumpman family. Today, however, that’s no longer the case, as the brand has begun investing more heavily in Michael Jordan’s second signature. Alongside collaborations with some of the biggest names in fashion — from Union LA to the late Virgil Abloh — the silhouette continues to receive new inline styles, including but certainly not limited to tomorrow’s “Cement Grey” colorway.
The second Air Jordan 2 to drop this week alone, the “Cement Grey” is but another homage to Jordan Brand’s roots, paying homage to the Chicago skyline that backlit one of the most iconic photos of MJ. These nods, though, are relegated exclusively to the insole, which features not only the cityscape itself but also emboldened text that reads “LOOK, UP IN THE AIR.” Across the exterior, the design is much more understated: across its white leather upper, the pair features grey accents and a subtle touch of “Sail.”
