A year removed from its 40th anniversary, the New Balance Rainier Low boot has reentered the company’s lineup of products thanks to a growing trend of outdoor-wear-for-casual-use.
Teddy Santis of Aimé Leon Dore fame took a liking to the silhouette, giving it his collaborative stamp of approval. The Rainier offering recently appeared in an all-new camel-reminiscent color scheme. Nylon and leather cover the entire upper, opting for a near uniform finish. The collar sits lower than on the original blueprint, allowing for more flexibility without sacrificing most of what made the NB Rainier the boot of choice for Lou Whittaker when he came the first American to ascend Mt Everest’s North Col. The contemporary ensemble is coupled with a reliable sole unit: a stacked foam midsole and grippy Vibram® traction make transitioning from street to trail seamless.
Enjoy detailed product shots of the pair ahead. Select shops overseas currently have the boots in stock, but a stateside newbalance.com drop hasn’t been announced yet.
