Nike SB‘s range of reference points is arguably unrivaled. Since launching in 2002, the skate-obsessed collective has produced footwear inspired by everything from Dutch beer to Tiffany & Co. diamonds.
Recently, Albino & Preto’s Arvie Gimeno teased a Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration inspired by jiu-jitsu apparel. A first for the silhouette, the project covers Peter Moore’s 38-year-old design in a cream color. The upper replaces leather, suede, and other materials commonly seen on skate shoes for a fabric reminiscent of the layered cotton used on jiu-jitsu belts. Non-standard stitching across the shoe’s upper improves durability while keeping on-theme with Albino & Preto’s Nike Dunk. Profile swooshes deviate from their surroundings off white makeup in favor of a black finish that calls out to A&P’s name – “Albino” (white) and “Preto” (“black” in Portuguese) refer to beginner and master level belt ranks in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Underfoot, a straightforward, two-tone look rounds out the sole unit.
Enjoy a first-look at the pair ahead, as you wait for official Nike SNKRS launch details.
