Jovani Hernandez The Nike Dunk Low has been around since 1985. Over the last 38 years, the silhouette has drawn inspiration from college sports, cereal brands, and countless other places. Its latest ensemble nods to fishing traditions in Oregon for a clean, but ornate offering.
Having appeared in a dark color palette as well, the unreleased style features nylon and suede materials across the upper. Swooshes on the sidewalls take on a scale-like finish while also recreating a fishing hook with its point. The majority of the top-half is clad in a series of grey tones, but hairy panels underneath “NIKE” branding on the spine introduce a rich blue hue into the mix. The tongue and footbed follow suit, nodding to the bodies of water in Beaverton, Ore., which have long histories with fishing. “Nike Beaverton 1972” is stamped on the tongue label, replacing traditional Nike branding. Underfoot, the sole unit opts for an “aged” aesthetic given its yellow midsole. Lastly, the Nike Dunk arrives in a shoebox housing paper covered in water graphics.
