Jovani Hernandez The wait’s (almost) finally over: Action Bronson has confirmed that his New Balance 990v6 “Baklava” will release on March 17.
Both casual and savvy fans of the Queens-native have been eager for the multi-hyphenate to release a sneaker collaboration, especially with New Balance. In late September 2022, Bronson treated the world to the first intentional look at a multi-colored NB 990v6, teasing a joint-effort with the New England institution. The last five months have included a slew of on-foot and in-hand photos of the pair, which has been divisive.
The New Balance 990v6 hasn’t done much since debuting in early November of last year. Bronson’s collaboration will surely energize the Fuel Cell-cushioned design, but countless netizens have dismissed the pair for “doing too much.”
High-quality materials grace the entirety of the “Baklava” 990v6. Disparate tones divvy up release estate across the upper and sole unit, with the latter favoring a mostly blue color scheme. Muted brown suede comes together with neon green mesh up-top, making for an experimental look – in particular for New Balance standards. Bam Bam’s “baklava” branding appears on the top of the tongue and sock-liner.
