Off-White has been relatively quiet with regards to NIKE, Inc. projects over the last two months. To welcome spring, however, the late Virgil Abloh’s imprint will release the Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Pine Green” throughout March.
Unofficially teased as early as May 2022, the upcoming collaboration helps expand the successful partnership’s legacy. Predecessors of the reworked Air Force 1 didn’t immediately sell out like Abloh’s numerous Air Jordan projects, but they helped lay the groundwork for other efforts. The warped midsole and spike-laden outsole tweaked Bruce Kilgore’s original blueprint, while additional lacing and zip-ties solidified Off-White’s. Abloh’s “Pine Green” proposition also introduced a new candlestick logo at the lateral heel – surely a code pertaining to the Illinois-native’s genius. Altogether, each component formed part of the lasting impression Virgil Abloh and Off-White left on sneakers.
