It’s difficult to imagine the Nike Air Force 1 Low without hip-hop. Throughout the years, the Swoosh has commemorated the musical genre and culture with special styles and campaigns, but it’s only recently teased the “50 Years of Hip-Hop” collection.
Consisting of Nike Sportswear icons, the upcoming range celebrates the origins of the popular musical genre. A pair honoring hip-hop’s Bronx roots launched October 2022, leading the charge for more sneakers rooted in the culture. A newly-surfaced Air Force 1 takes on a simple color palette: a clean white covers the majority of the upper, while a cream tone lands on the midsole. A hit of grey appears via the outsole, whereas the swooshes on the sides and Achilles’ heel panel enjoy a spray-painted black finish.
Branding on the tongue label and sockliner deliver the most obvious nods to hip-hop. Traditional Nike logos are replaced with a special “50 Years of Hip-Hop” badge at the tops of the tongue. “NIKE CLASSICS” text lands on the insole and is stylized after the parental advisory labels that’ve graced albums like N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton and Nas’ Illmatic. Lastly, a golden microphone hang tag joins the mix.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, while you wait for official nike.com release details.
In related sneaker news, the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” is expected to launch in March.
