Since joining adidas in early 2020, Sean Wotherspoon has been on a mission to create eco-conscious footwear. All of his SUPEREARTH projects have featured non-virgin materials, helping the Three Stripes push its sustainable efforts forward.
At the end of last year, the Virginia-native teased several pairs of the adidas Gazelle, sparking interest in the classic silhouette. As with other designs by Sean Wotherspoon however, the sneakers included intricate details and fun color schemes. Today, the Round Two co-founder shared the best look yet at his latest joint-effort with the Three Stripes: the SW Gazelle Hemp.
Hemp in sneakers isn’t new. Over the last handful of years alone, some of the biggest players in the space have used the cannabis plant fiber in popular pairs. Wotherspoon’s next adidas Originals style features an intricately woven hemp upper animated by white and green colors. Vegan leather lands around the tongue and make up the 3-Stripes on the sides. A hit of orange appears on the heel. Below, the sole unit takes on a semi-translucent gum brown finish.
Enjoy a closer look at the pair ahead, and anticipate an adidas CONFIRMED app launch in the coming months.
In related sneaker news, the Bad Bunny x adidas Campus Moon will debut in “Cloud White” soon.
