The Nike Air Max 1 “Design By Japan” Features Vintage Touches

Nike’s fictional Air Max Day is fast approaching. The brand is expected to drop the Air Max 1 in its true original form, but it’s also offering the sneaker in a handful of new styles.

Recently, a green, orange, and grey-covered pair of Tinker Hatfield’s iconic design surfaced via official Nike images. The offering features elevates touches from the standard AM1, suggesting the shoes form part of a special collection. Branding from the 1970s lands on the top of the tongue and heel, while sock-liners introduce “Design By Japan” text.

A metal version of the first Air Max sneaker arrives in the form of a hang tag at the top eyelet. Elsewhere, the revolutionary midsole favors a yellow finish that further develops an aged aesthetic. The Swoosh hasn’t provided any details about the upcoming sneaker, but it’s likely the shoe (and similar ones) celebrate Japan’s love for vintage Nikes.

No firm Nike SNKRS launch details have been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change as March inches closer. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
