Originally constructed for a handful of Division 1 basketball programs, the Nike Dunk has taken on a multitude of cultural fanbases since its introduction in the mid-80s. With the model’s dominant revitalization from 2020 now in the rearview, the Beaverton-based brand is harkening to the silhouette’s original roots for an inline collection tied to the hardwood.
Disparate from its typical all-leather tooling, the silhouette’s jet-black overlays and underlying heel panel indulge in a smooth treatment of nubuck, furthering the model’s simple build through its color-matched laces, tongue construction and sock liner. Mimicking its lauded “Panda” counterpart in the pair’s use of an initial black/white color blocking, a disparate “Teal” contrast fills the heel counter’s overlay panel in tandem with the tongue tab’s logo. Resuming the vibrant accent with a luminous yet faded metallic finish across its midfoot Swooshes and heel tabs, the pack-signifying colorway proffers a lasting hidden away feature of the darkened blue along its basketball-branded insoles in conclusion.
