Mayor Teases A fragment design x Air Jordan 1 “Royal” Sample Featuring Black Crocodile Skin

The new year has only recently begun, but the sneaker-related flexes are already in full force. “BIG BRONX,” better known as “Mayor,” took to Instagram on Jan. 1 to tease a never-before-seen pair of the fragment design x Air Jordan 1.

Presumably a sample from the collaborative effort before both aforementioned brands in 2014, the newly-surfaced pair indulges in an original “Royal” color combination. Base layers, however, forgo a traditional leather build in favor of a luxurious crocodile skin fitting given Mayor’s history with Nike Air Force 1s covered in reptilian scales. Contrasting panels – profile swooshes, ankle flaps, lower heel overlays – help create the “Royal” look while also introducing what looks like a soft suede material into the mix. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s iconic thunder bolt logos are etched onto the Air Jordan‘s lateral heel, cementing the shoes as an official, but improbable-to-release collaboration between the Japanese pioneer and NIKE, Inc.

Enjoy a closer look at the pair ahead, and check out the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green” when you’re done.
